I was raised in a “buy it nice or buy it twice” household, and I’ve only doubled down on the philosophy in adulthood. My job as a journalist requires a lot of product research and testing, and I’ve been pleased to discover that “nice” isn’t always synonymous with “expensive.” So really, why not do a little extra diligence and get the very best so it’ll really last?
My new favorite thread in the /BuyItForLife subreddit has people talking about the oldest things they own that still get regular use — and I’m taking copious notes on what kitchen items they swear by. Some were even passed down from grandmothers and great-grandmothers! Spoiler alert: Only four of them are over $100.
Do you have any kitchen items that have lasted you decades, or through generations? Let us know in the comments below!
