If you’ve ever tried to peel or scrub a price tag, label, or stubborn sticker off a glass, pan, mug, or other kitchen item, you know the struggle. You start peeling, and even if you get most of it off, you’re left with a sticky, gooey mess that just won’t budge. There’s got to be a better way — and there is!

I got so fed up with scrubbing a sticker off of a mug recently that I decided to give a hack I’d seen floating around a try: using a hair dryer to remove a sticker (and its residue). And spoiler: It actually worked!

How to Use a Hair Dryer to Remove Sticky Sticker Residue

I never thought I’d have a hair dryer in my kitchen, but here I am — and it actually makes so much sense. The heat from the hair dryer softens the adhesive, making it super easy to peel the sticker off without wrecking your kitchenware. Plus, all of the stickiness goes with it in one easy swipe. It’s quick, simple, and saved me so much time and frustration! Here’s how I did it:

  1. Hold the hair dryer about 6 inches away from the sticker. (I used my trusty REVLON infrared hair dryer.)
  2. Let it heat up for 15 to 30 seconds. Keep the hair dryer moving a little to avoid overheating one spot.
  3. Once the sticker feels soft, peel it off. If there’s any residue left behind, repeat the process for a few seconds, and it’ll come right off.

I initially tried this with a ceramic mug. Afterward, I just wiped it down with a soft cloth to remove any leftover bits of sticker and residue, and it looked brand-new. Honestly, I couldn’t believe how easy it was. But I didn’t stop there.

This Trick Works on More Than Just Mugs

After realizing this hack was the real deal, I tried it on glassware, picture frames, and even some old jars, and yes, I got the same result every time. No more scrubbing, no more mess. Just a hair dryer and a little patience!

Honestly, after trying this shockingly simple hack, I can’t believe how well it worked. Plus, I already had everything I needed for it! Next time you’re fighting with a sticker or price tag, just grab your hair dryer, and you’ll be peeling that thing off in no time. It’s a total game-changer, and it makes a boring task way more fun!
