I’ve always loved hummus. When I asked my mother how that love began, she brought me back to our neighborhood in Park Slope. I wasn’t even a year old when she ordered pureed carrots for me at a restaurant. Instead of eating my own food, I reached straight for her plate — a silky-smooth dish of hummus.

More than a decade has passed, and little has changed about my feelings toward the creamy dip. Its uses are endless (and that’s before you even get to the variety of flavors). My favorite hummus of all? Sabra Roasted Garlic Hummus.

As I get ready to fill up my dorm mini fridge for the fall semester, it will be first on my list and a mainstay in my snack and meal routine.

What’s So Great About Sabra Roasted Garlic Hummus?

Sabra’s hummus has long stood out to me. It has a smooth, creamy base and a consistent delicious rich, savory taste that I’ve grown to love. The original hummus fits squarely in my comfort zone, and flavors like Lemon Twist and Olive Tapanade make it easy to branch out. The best one, in my opinion, is the tub of Roasted Garlic Hummus.

While the hummus has the classic smooth base, it’s the finely chopped garlic with bits of chopped red bell pepper piled that really takes this tub to the next level. I’ve been eating it for the better part of the past decade, and I always go back to its nutty flavor time and time again.

What’s the Best Way to Enjoy Sabra Roasted Garlic Hummus?

I find that experimentation is the key to enjoying hummus. It’s excellent on its own (seriously, grab a spoon and dig in!), and sometimes I’ll add a squeeze of lemon and add a bit of salt and pepper to really make its flavor shine. Close your eyes, and it tastes shockingly close to homemade.

I eat this hummus with just about anything: pretzel sticks, pita chips, baby carrots … It’s also my secret ingredient in rice bowls and a one-ingredient dairy-free pasta sauce (just add some pasta water).
