When it comes to chocolates, few feel more luxurious to me than Ferrero Rocher. From the minute I unfold that gold foil wrapper, it’s like diving into a pool of chocolate heaven. The crunchy bits of hazelnut only add to the party.

Those little balls of chocolate and hazelnut are a holiday staple (and a foolproof gift). So I was a little surprised to hear the brand had transformed those adorable orbs into chocolate squares. Would they have the same rich flavor and iconic crunch as the original? I received samples of the new chocolate squares to find out. Here’s how it went down.

What You Should Know About Ferrero Rocher Premium Dark Hazelnut Chocolate Squares
The new chocolate squares are a total nod to the classic — they’re even embossed with the Ferrero Rocher truffle and logo. “[We] wanted to create a product specifically for informal sharing occasions, giving our consumers a new way to share and enjoy the iconic product,” said Susan Burris, Marketing Director, Premium Chocolate Innovation at Ferrero Rocher.
The individually wrapped chocolate squares come in a variety of flavors: Milk Hazelnut, Dark Hazelnut, White Hazelnut, Caramel Hazelnut, and, for the adventurous, an assorted mix. Each square contains a creamy filling, roasted hazelnut pieces and crispies to replicate that quintessential wafer crunch.
Ferrero Rocher’s Premium Chocolate Squares made their debut at the 2025 Sweets & Snacks Expo in May and officially launched as a permanent addition to the brand’s lineup on October 1. They are sold at retailers nationwide, including Amazon and Walmart, starting at $4.97. You can also find them at Instacart.

My Honest Review of Ferrero Rocher Premium Dark Hazelnut Chocolate Squares
I tore open one square, and I got a whiff of that classic Ferrero scent that I’ve grown to love — sweet, creamy chocolate mixed with a nutty melody, thanks to the hazelnuts. The dark chocolate is rich, smooth, and indulgent while the hazelnut filling inside has a similar texture (and look) to peanut butter or the center of a truffle. It’s creamy but not runny and surprising chock-full of hazelnuts and crunchy wafer pieces for a thin square.

Madeleine, our associate design director at Apartment Therapy (The Kitchn’s parent company) and huge fan of Ferrero Rocher, took one bite and said, “Yeah, that’s divine.” Mara, our director of groceries & shopping, popped one in her mouth for a midday snack and added, “It’s just what I needed.”
