In my house, there’s only one way to mark the month of April: the Masters Tournament. The storied golf event plays on a loop on my family’s television, and I field countless texts from friends about how they hope to try a $1.50 pimento cheese sandwich on the greens one day.

I haven’t been so lucky as to attend the tournament myself (yet, hopefully), but that hasn’t stopped me from paying attention to everything this golf-filled week brings. While most people are obsessed with the aforementioned pimento cheese sandwich, pork barbecue, peach ice cream sandwich, and even egg salad sandwich, I’ve always wanted to try the tournament’s signature cocktail: the Azalea Cocktail.

What Makes Our Azalea Cocktail So Amazing

A sip of this lemonade-based cocktail can definitely make all the annoyances of the day go away, whether it was a high putting average or just a regular day in the office. It’s sweet, bright, and super refreshing. The light pink color of the drink is also worth mentioning. I mean, who doesn’t like a fun and pretty-looking glass in their hand?

I was worried it would be too reminiscent of the vodka lemonades I drank in college, but it really wasn’t. The grenadine helped cut through the sour lemonade mix and brightened things up. I also squeezed my orange garnish into my glass to make the drink taste even fresher.

The great news: You still have time to run to the store and pick up vodka, lemonade, and grenadine to make your watch party (even if that just includes you) that much better this year.

How to Make Our Azalea Cocktail

  1. Shake your lemonade with vodka. In a cocktail shaker, add ice, vodka, and lemonade. Seal it and shake until the outside is frosty.
  2. Combine all ingredients. Fill an old-fashioned glass with ice and add some grenadine syrup over it. Next, pour in your chilled lemonade and vodka mixture through a strainer. Garnish with an orange slice and a maraschino cherry. Cheers!
