Once upon a time, a fan-favorite Coca-Cola flavor lined grocery store shelves across the country — and it amassed a loyal following. But its popularity waned over time and it was discontinued, much to the disappointment of its adoring fans. So they begged and hoped and dreamed, and finally Coca-Cola gave the people what they want: the return of Diet Cherry Coke. After years of waiting and wishing, Diet Cherry Coke is returning to stores nationwide, but there’s a catch: It’s back for a limited time only.

The news of Diet Cherry Coke’s return came three days ago, courtesy of the @snackolater Instagram account. In a post, @snackolater shared an image of the brand-new packaging (that actually looks a lot like old packaging). “I’m here for the packaging alone,” wrote one commenter. It’s safe to say the retro design is almost as exciting as the flavor itself!

Fans of Diet Cherry Coke were excited, to say the least — and they were doing the absolute most in the comment section. “Where can I find! This is an emergency!” wrote one soda connoisseur. “I’m going to need at least 10 cases,” said another. Someone else echoed that same sentiment, saying, “Oh the grocery stocker is gonna hate to see me coming.”

The abundance of excitement from Diet Cherry Coke fans comes with a little bit of frustration: Why is it only a limited-edition flavor? “Just bring it back for good,” said one Instagram user. Time will tell if the demand for the returning favorite flavor is enough to convince Coca-Cola to restore Diet Cherry Coke to its rightful place in the permanent Coke lineup.

But, in the meantime, now is your chance to stock up on this beloved flavor before it disappears from grocery store shelves once again. While it’s not fully rolled out in grocery stores nationwide just yet, keep an eye out — because it could land in a store near you very, very soon.
