There’s no denying that Dollar Tree is a treasure trove. The budget-friendly store is teeming with affordable items for every room of the house, from dinnerware to dinner ingredients, household cleaning products to seasonal decor. No matter how many coupons you use or where you shop, there’s virtually no way to beat Dollar Tree’s impressively low prices. But those prices are about to go up — at least on some items.
Dollar Tree’s prices have steadily been on the rise, with baseline prices climbing from $1 up to $1.25. Some items are even priced as high as $7, which can be startling when shopping at a store where every item used to be $1 or less.
Now, Dollar Tree has plans to increase prices again, bringing the price of some items that are currently $1.25 up to $1.50. But how can you tell which ones?
Well, it’s actually easier than you might think. The next time you’re in a Dollar Tree store, take note of whether or not an item has a red sticker on its existing price. The red stickers, placed atop existing price stickers, signal that the item will indeed be jumping up in price from $1.25 to $1.50.
Shoppers have already started taking note of these red stickers on all types of products, including home goods, kitchen items, and even reading glasses. Some have even reported being charged $1.50 for said items, even though the company has yet to roll out the price changes nationwide.
There’s no telling exactly when the price changes will become official, so it might be worth asking a Dollar Tree employee to check the price of any items you’re eyeing before you commit to buying them so you aren’t surprised at checkout.
