As a born-and-raised Californian, there’s something about the East Coast that’s always spoken to me, even from across the country. New England specifically caught my heart the moment I first visited — the foggy coast, quaint, historic town centers, overgrown hydrangea bushes, and, of course, the fresh seafood galore.
So when I started planning a Maine-inspired dinner party, I knew I wanted to capture the rustic-chic maritime theme perfectly. I asked my friend and colleague Vicky Wasik, Apartment Therapy Media’s studio director, for her help picking out the decor, as a pro prop stylist and decorator.
“When I think of a summer in Maine, I think casual, classic, and non-fussy,” Wasik says. “You can lean into natural materials and classic patterns with a slight nod toward nautical.” With just under $100, she absolutely nailed it — here’s what she got, spending under $75.
