There are few snacks that really hit for me like a salty, chewy soft pretzel — and if you’re a fan of The Office, you know I’m not alone. On their building’s annual “Pretzel Day,” Michael Scott and company are willing to stand in a looong line to snag their very own pretzel creation. Now, HelloFresh has captured that excitement with a new meal kit that allows anyone to have their own Pretzel Day any day — without the line. And yes, it even includes 18 (!) toppings, just like Michael’s pretzel of choice.

What You Should Know About HelloFresh’s The Office Pretzel Day Kits

Hello Fresh Subscription at HelloFresh

I scored a Pretzel Day Kit to try ahead of the launch, and it came with everything I needed to make my very own soft pretzels, along with all 18 sweet toppings featured in the show. That way, I was prepped to make my own version of Michael’s “The Works.”

Making the dough takes about 20 minutes, then you boil the individual pretzels in a pot of water with baking soda, salt them, and put them into the oven to bake. The baking takes 30 minutes — then you’re ready to start playing with the toppings.

My Honest Review of HelloFresh’s The Office Pretzel Day Kit

I’ve always been intimidated by the thought of making my own soft pretzels at home, so this kit helped make the culinary adventure more approachable for me. With the help of my stand mixer, it was super easy to make the dough. Mine did turn out a little bit sticky (even with the recommended addition of a tablespoon more flour if this happens), so if I were to make this again, I’d add even more flour until I got the smooth consistency I was looking for.

Boiling the pretzels was fun and fast (about 20 seconds per pretzel). This kit is supposed to make 12 pretzels, though I admittedly misread the directions and made six instead. But that was OK because it meant I had some big pretzels that could hold a ton of toppings, which is the whole point, right?

After baking them for 30 minutes, they were a deep golden brown on the outside with a fluffy, chewy interior. I let them cool for a few minutes and then arranged all 18 toppings on the counter. There are truly too many toppings to list here, but some standouts were chocolate fudge, cinnamon sugar, mint chips, chocolate cookie crumbs, white chocolate sauce, and cotton candy bits.

Ultimately, I topped my pretzel with peanut butter drizzle, mini marshmallows, mini chocolate chips, and toffee bits, and finished it with a drizzle of the iconic caramel dip that famously ends up on Michael’s suit. It was so good! The pretzels had a little salt baked onto them, which complemented the peanut butter, chocolate, and caramel flavors. Plus, the toffee bits added some crunch while the marshmallows were fluffy little bursts of sweetness. It was so much fun to create my very own Pretzel Day soft pretzel, and I’m already bummed I don’t have another box.
