Getting ready in my tiny bathroom is a dicey operation. One wrong move, and I could send my partner’s toothbrush clattering to the ground, or worse, drop my powdered blush to a shattered grave. It sounds dramatic, but the lack of counter space is tragic. I might get by putting my makeup bag on the lid of my toilet or in the basin of my sink, but doing that feels icky, no matter how clean I keep my bathroom. I honestly don’t know how it dawned on me that a roll-up dish-drying rack might solve the issue, but I’m so glad it did — it doubled my counter space!
There are plenty of options out there, but I went with the Seropy Roll-Up Dish Drying Rack, which has over 4,000 five-star ratings on Amazon. It’s also the same price as an iced latté ($7), which I told myself was a small price to pay if it ended up being a failure. I can’t tell you how pleased I was when it actually worked.
Why You Should Put a Dish-Drying Rack in Your Bathroom

It doubles your counter space
With the dish-drying rack rolled out over my sink, I created a valuable work surface where there was none, leaving my actual countertop undisturbed. Now I have a place to sprawl open my makeup bag as I get ready in the morning, and don’t have to worry about products spilling out onto the floor or into my sink. It also makes it easier to find what I’m looking for. Hooray!

It holds hair styling tools
Before the dish-drying rack, I’d precariously place my flat iron at the edge of my bathtub as I got ready, which was an accident waiting to happen. I also worried about putting it on a wet surface, which in all likelihood, my vanity is likely to be at any given moment. The dish-drying rack gave me the extended counter space I needed to comfortably set my blow-dryer or flat iron down while doing my hair in the morning. Its heat-resistant design doubles as a trivet, too, which gives me peace of mind about putting my flat iron on it. I’d just be cautious if you use a curling iron, due to the exposed barrel.
It’s small-space friendly
The dish-drying rack’s compact design makes it a dream for small spaces. Just roll it up and stash it in a drawer or cabinet for easy storage. My bathroom has zero cabinet space, so I keep mine in a basket atop my toilet tank without any issues. I could also see it fitting on top of a cupboard, for example, if you want it totally out of sight.
It’s nonslip
Whereas a tray could move around on my vanity and cause a bigger mess than before, the dish-drying rack stays firmly in place on my sink thanks to the soft-touch silicone at both ends. So even if my counter is wet after I wash my face, for example, I don’t have to stress about my things slipping and sliding around.
