What’s So Great About Universal Yums Super Yum Box?

Universal Yums is a subscription box service that delivers international snacks from South Korea, Italy, Greece, Mexico, and more each month. There are three boxes to choose from, and you can pick the country or let it be a surprise:

  1. The Yum Box, which contains between five and seven snacks and a 12-page booklet featuring recipes, trivia, and more centered around the featured country
  2. The Yum Yum Box, which offers 10 to 12 snacks and a 16-page booklet
  3. The Super Yum Box, which has a whopping 15 to 18 snacks, plus a drink, and a 19-page booklet

I subscribed to the Yum Box for four years because it was the most affordable at $20 a month (even after a year of purchasing, it’s still cheaper than most international flights). Recently, I upgraded to try the Super Yum Box, and it’s seriously cool because of how many snacks it offers — chips, cookies, popcorn, candy, and more — as well as a fun drink. It’s $47 a month, though you can save a couple bucks if you choose to pay for six months’ or a year’s worth of boxes up front.

Plus, you can stock up on your favorites from the box at the company’s Yum Shop à la carte, or even try new ones that excite you. You don’t even have to be a subscriber to order snacks from the Yum Shop.

My Honest Review of Universal Yums Super Yum Box

I opted for a surprise box because I feel it’s more fun that way (but no judgment here, you do you!). The last Super Yum Box I received was packed with snacks from South Korea, and the one before that was from Taiwan. I’ve received smaller versions of both of these as Yum Boxes before, and this was my first time getting the Super Yum Box versions; honestly, I was thrilled because I loved these two the first time around.

The South Korea box in particular is a standout, and the Super Yum Box had two of my all-time-favorite international snacks: Crown Churroz (sweet, cinnamony churro-shaped crisps that remind me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch) and Crown Naemam Molang Peach-Flavored Gummies (soft gummy candies that taste like peach rings but without the sugar coating). I also discovered some new treasures in the stack of 16 snacks (plus a drink, but who’s counting?).

The Ottogi Ppushu Ppushu Bulgogi-Flavored Noodle Snack is a pack of uncooked ramen that you break up in the bag and toss with a savory yet slightly sweet, meaty bulgogi seasoning. It was so fun to smash apart, and the flavor was like a more complex barbecue potato chip. I couldn’t get enough.

Next month, I want to host a Universal Yums night, where I invite friends and family over to sample them with me, so we can all experience these countries together.
