IKEA’s Newest Fridge Organizers Are Practical Storage Gems

No matter how long you’ve lived in a place, it probably always feels like you could upgrade your storage situation. Sure, it might not feel like you urgently need to find a better home for your old winter clothes or the extra chairs you only bring out for guests, but when you get stressed every time you open the fridge then it’s time for a change.

There are a million ways you can organize your fridge (and the freezer!), and what works for one person might not work for you. Still, there are ways to make it easier — and these versatile new storage bins from IKEA might be just the thing to help you finally use up that produce that usually gets lost in the back of your fridge.

The IKEA KLIPPKAKTUS Storage Basket measures 11 3/4 inches long, 7 1/2 inches wide, and 5 1/2 inches tall. It comes with ventilation holes in the bottom, which makes it a great choice for storing produce. It’s sold individually, at $5.99 each, but if you get multiple then they’re designed to stack.

The IKEA KLIPPKAKTUS Storage Boxes are slender, tall, and specifically designed to be placed in the door of your fridge. The refrigerator door tends to contain a miscellaneous accumulation of sauces and beverages, but these bins can help streamline this area of your fridge and create room for a wider variety of items. It comes in a set of three — two smaller square bins and one wider rectangular one — for $7.99.

All the KLIPPKAKTUS organizers are completely clear, so you’ll easily be able to see what’s in them, which will come in handy when you’re running late and need to quickly identify just where you left that snack. Plus, they’re dishwasher-safe.

I’m someone who cooks a lot at home, but I’m not always the best at planning in advance. I tend to buy ingredients and figure the rest out later, so I spend a lot of time staring blankly at the contents of my refrigerator. I try to keep things organized, but nobody’s perfect, and fridges usually only come with two drawers. So these IKEA organizers are great for creating consistent “stations” in the fridge (or even temporary areas where you keep all the ingredients for an upcoming meal to make things a bit easier for your future self).
