Tranquil Retreat in Neskowin, Oregon
A serene coastal escape brimming with picturesque hikes, local artistry, delectable seafood, and secret natural treasures along Oregon’s wild coastline.
We recently had a rejuvenating visit in Neskowin, Oregon, a tranquil little beach community that seems like a hidden treasure on the Pacific shoreline. After flying into Portland, we drove our rental car for just over two hours to arrive in Neskowin. Our accommodation was a charming one-bedroom short-term rental, ideally situated on the ground floor right beside Neskowin Beach, facing Proposal Rock. Waking up to that view each day? Unbelievable.
Experiencing the sunset over the beach was an equally breathtaking sight.
This was not a high-energy, go-go-go vacation—we purposely kept our itinerary relaxed, focusing on leisure, great dining, and fresh ocean air. Nonetheless, we discovered a few enjoyable activities and some excellent local cuisine during our visit.

Our Accommodation
Our condo was ideally located—just a few steps from the beach and boasting a prime view of Proposal Rock, which resides in the Pacific Ocean at high tide. The ground floor facilitated easy beach access, and we cherished the ability to step right out and explore when the tide was low.
We kept our meals uncomplicated: breakfast and lunch in the condo, often with the patio door open to the sound of the waves. It was the perfect laid-back start to our days.
Dining and Desserts in Town
In the evenings, we typically strolled down to Hawk Creek Café, which was conveniently situated at the end of the condo complex. It quickly became our favored spot for dinner. The food was delightful—fresh, hearty, and just the type of comfort we craved after a day full of beach strolls and reading.
One evening, after dinner, we indulged in ice cream from the little stand outside the café known as The Village Scoop. It’s actually served from a charming red and white van, and it was a fun, nostalgic way to wrap up the evening.
