Tranquil Retreat in Neskowin, Oregon
A soothing coastal retreat filled with picturesque hikes, local artistry, fresh seafood, and undiscovered natural marvels along Oregon’s rugged coastline.
We recently had a delightful stay in Neskowin, Oregon, a serene little beach community that feels like a well-kept secret on the Pacific shore. We landed in Portland and then drove our rental vehicle for a bit over two hours to reach Neskowin. Our accommodation was a snug one-bedroom short-term rental, conveniently situated on the ground floor right on Neskowin Beach, facing Proposal Rock. Waking up to that panorama every morning? Unbelievable.
Watching the sunset across the beach was an equally breathtaking sight.
This wasn’t one of those hectic vacations—we deliberately maintained a relaxed schedule, focusing on relaxation, delicious food, and ocean breezes. Nonetheless, we discovered a few enjoyable activities and some fantastic local dining while we were in town.

Our Accommodation
Our condo was ideally situated—just steps from the shore and with a prime view of Proposal Rock, which emerges in the Pacific Ocean during high tide. The ground floor made accessing the beach a breeze, and we cherished the ability to stroll right out and explore whenever the tide receded.
We kept our meals uncomplicated: breakfast and lunch in the condo, often with the patio door ajar to hear the sound of the waves. It was the perfect leisurely start to each day.
Evening Meals and Snacks in Town
In the evenings, we typically strolled down to Hawk Creek Café, conveniently located at the end of the condo complex. It quickly became our favorite spot for dinner. The cuisine was delightful—fresh, fulfilling, and just the kind of comfort we craved after a day of beach strolls and reading.
One evening, post-dinner, we indulged in ice cream from the small stand outside the café called The Village Scoop. It’s actually served from a charming red and white van, providing a fun, nostalgic way to wrap up the evening.
