After stepping away from the spotlight for several years, Pamela Anderson has entered a new era in Hollywood, returning to the screen in recent movies like The Last Showgirl and The Naked Gun. But she doesn’t plan on giving up her off-screen hobbies in pursuit of this second wind. In fact, her garden, located on her family’s land on Vancouver Island, has never been more spectacular than it is right now, and she credits it for bringing her out of a “sad and lonely” funk, as she told Better Homes & Gardens in 2024.
“I came to a point where I decided to move home and disappear and get into my garden,” Anderson said. “And when I started building the garden, it was really like a metaphor of putting my life back together. I began planting seeds, and the smallest things became really profound.”
Anderson’s garden is now the focal point of her life. It’s where her family comes together (her sons actually helped her design it), it’s where she pays homage to her childhood, and it’s a source of inspiration and, more literally, delicious food. Whenever you see it you’re going to want to copy it for yourself. Luckily, she shared some tips on how.
You Can Copy Pamela Anderson’s “Provençal” Garden
Anderson’s 7-acre garden is such a dream and looks as though you’ve been transported straight to France, thanks to her laid-back approach to gardening. A wood-plank walkway snakes through the plants that dot either side. (Her current favorite vegetation are Yves Piaget roses and heirloom tomatoes.) In another section, gravel paths separate several box planters that are filled with gorgeous plants. It looks like a large, grassy field surrounds the garden and is a buffer between the water beyond.
“I think ‘Provençal’ is how I love to think of it,” Anderson, who lived in Provence, France, just before the pandemic, told Architectural Digest earlier this summer. “It’s wildflowers and herbs and vegetables mixed in. I’m combining the rules of gardening and then more of my whimsical nature.”
Pulling inspiration from “the musical gardens in Marie Antoinette’s [château] at Versailles,” Anderson called herself “a romantic gardener,” adding, “I don’t like straight lines. If you see any straight lines in my garden, it’s because somebody else probably planted it.”
Even if you’re just starting out on your green-thumb garden journey, Anderson says the beauty is in allowing yourself to make mistakes and continuing to move forward. While she loves her garden, it seems as though she doesn’t take it too seriously, and rather has an emotional connection to the process. Take a note out of Anderson’s gardening book and consider copying this style (and mindset!) in your own backyard.
