Kettle chips are the superior chip — and no one can convince me otherwise. The level of crunch is simply unmatched. There are a lot of really good kettle chip brands out there, and Kettle Brand is one of the best (just ask these chefs). Its bold limited-edition flavors pack a punch (see: fruity and tangy chamoy and sweet and spicy gochujang).
For its latest launch, the popular chip brand has taken inspiration from one of the most beloved condiments. You guessed it! Chili crisp. How does the spicy condiment fare in chip form? Naturally, we got our hands on some samples immediately to find out.

What You Should Know About Kettle Brand Chili Crisp Potato Chips
Kettle Brand Chili Crisp Potato Chips are here to spice up the summer (quite literally). To replicate the flavor of the Chinese hot sauce, the limited-edition chips are coated in a seasoning blend made with salt, red chili peppers, sugar, garlic powder, paprika, habanero peppers, dried red pepper sauce, and molasses. Even the ombré bags mimic the look of the OG condiment.
The new chips first made their debut in June 2025 and are available for a limited time only. (You’ve been warned!) You can find them at select retailers nationwide, including Whole Foods and Sprouts, for $5.29 per 6.5-ounce bag.

My Honest Review of Kettle Brand Chili Crisp Chips
I’ll admit that I have a very low tolerance when it comes to spice, so chili crisp isn’t something I turn to often. So with apprehension after seeing the fiery packaging, I opened the bag and dug in. The chips have an orange, peppery hue to them, reminiscent of the hot sauce. I tried one first and was surprised.
The chips start off quite mild in terms of heat — but not flavor. In fact, they initially reminded me of Popeye’s Cajun fries. Then, the heat builds and the spice hits the back of your throat. It is, in a word, enticing.

Cullen, our associate home editor, who found it hard to put the bag down, agreed. “These have a little bit stronger spice than what I’m used to, but they’re so delicious I can’t help but continue to reach into the bag,” she said. “They are bold — and that’s not just about the heat. It’s a delicious savory chip.”

Henry, our principal product designer and a lover of kettle chips, thought the “very snackable” chips had a “relatively mild” heat. (Of course, spice tolerances will vary.) Ola, our culinary assistant, also couldn’t get enough. “I am loving the heat on the back end of this chip. Very well-seasoned, yet not overwhelming, and great crunch,” she said.
