When I caught wind of a new Argentinian-inspired flavor hitting American markets, I rushed to a local 7-Eleven to try them. Although, unfortunately, they were out of stock. Not one to give up, I asked other editors at The Kitchn if they’d spotted this new flavor near them.
Lindsay, our editor-in-chief, managed to snag one in Portland, Oregon, and immediately got to snacking. Here’s her honest review. (TL;DR: I’m now on a mission to find them.)

What You Should Know About Lay’s Argentinian Style Steak Potato Chips

My Honest Review of Lay’s Argentinian Style Steak Potato Chips
As soon as Lindsay secured the bag of chips, I immediately asked her if they lived up to the hype online. She tried (and loved) them, raving that they “transport you to a convenient store in Bueno Aires.” They’re “very savory” and actually “taste like steak,” according to Lindsay, which admittingly, is really hard to pull off in a potato chip. (The secret is beef fat.)
Beyond the “strong steak flavor,” Lindsay also picked up on the pronounced onion that reminded her of sour cream and onion chips (affectionately). Ultimately, they’re a really “fun take on steak and potatoes.” Admittedly, I was a little jealous.
Quinn, our senior lifestyle editor, also got her hands on a bag and she and her dad loved them. In fact, her family was such a fan, he shared that he “brought them to a family party and my mom, dad, and aunt finished the bag in minutes.”
It only made me want to try them even more — and again, as I type this. I will keep checking my local stores until I hopefully find them in stock.
