One of the perks of being a groceries editor is getting an early look at (and taste of!) new releases from top candy brands — like M&M’s. Fresh off the success of its Cookies and Creme drop, the iconic chocolate brand is launching three limited-edition flavors — Cherry Chocolate Cupcake, Peanut Butter Cinnamon Roll, and Lemon Meringue Pie — this coming January.
The trio of “bakery themed” M&M’s won’t be on shelves until the new year, but I got my hands on un-branded samples earlier this month (that’s how in-the-works these candies still are). As soon as they arrived, I snapped a few photos and immediately tore into each bag to try them out for myself.

What You Should Know About M&M’s Bakery Collection
Before my package came in the mail, I saw whispers of the new M&M’s on Reddit (with an easter egg of a cookie dough flavor coming soon, too?). The post named the three flavors and shared mockups of their packaging. As you might expect, the designs match their flavors: Cherry Chocolate Cupcake comes in a cherry-red bag and displays an M&M mascot holding a, you guessed it, chocolate cupcake with a cherry on top. Lemon Meringue Pie comes in a lemon-yellow bag, while Peanut Butter Cinnamon Roll comes in a reddish-orange one.

These new flavors are part of the brand’s upcoming limited-edition Dessert Collection, where fans will be able to vote on their favorite flavor to join the permanent M&M’s lineup, similar to Lay’s Do Us a Favor Campaign. The candies will be sold in standard single-serving bags, and will be available nationwide starting January 2026.
My Honest Review of M&M’s Bakery Collection
I am a dessert person! I bake almost daily. When I’m not making something from scratch, I’m sampling a store-bought sweet. So it’s safe to say that these three flavors are right up my alley. Nonetheless, here’s my honest review.
1. Cherry Chocolate Cupcake
These gave me major Cherry Garcia ice cream vibes. The cherry isn’t overpowering, but present — and it actually tastes like a milk chocolate-covered cherry, or a very close dupe. I don’t get much of the cupcake, but I’m not quite sure what that would taste like in a candy-coated chocolate anyways. Still, I’d give it a 10/10.

2. Lemon Meringue Pie
When I think of meringue, I think of a light, sugary marshmallow flavor — and that’s exactly what I got from this M&M. It even shattered delicately like a meringue cookie, which made for a fantastic crunch. Lemon isn’t typically my go-to flavor for desserts, but it was so light and added a zesty punch to the white chocolate sweetness that really worked together.
3. Peanut Butter Cinnamon Roll
A peanut butter cinnamon roll just sounds like my dream dessert. I can’t believe I’ve never thought to combine the two, but I’m thankful M&Ms did because the mash-up is really good. Peanutty, cinnamony, and full of milk chocolate flavor.
I don’t think I can choose a favorite (although I did finish off the Peanut Butter Cinnamon Roll while writing this). They’re all really distinctly different and delicious in their own right. I can’t wait for them to be on shelves, so you can try them and vote for your favorite. I wonder which will end up the winner.
