Is there any piece of cookware more trusty and versatile than a Dutch oven? I’ve tried a bunch of them — from a chef-backed collab to the luxe pot Stanley Tucci created. They’re all great … and they’re all fairly big. So this petite Dutch oven that’s perfect for smaller portions or sauces piqued my interest. And now I don’t want this beauty to ever leave my stovetop.

What You Should Know About Vermicular’s Oven Pot 2.0

Vermicular dropped its Oven Pot 2.0 in September 2024. Because it’s soup season, I knew I needed the Oven Pot 2.0 in my kitchen this fall. It comes in four sizes, ranging from 5.5 inches to 10.2 inches, starting at $160. You can choose from eight color options, including matte and glossy finishes in shades like butter yellow, light pink, and navy blue. There’s also the option for a Round Knob lid or a Self-Standing Lid.

This enameled cast iron pot should be hand-washed (don’t worry — it’s easy) and can be popped into an oven under 570°F.

My Honest Review of Vermicular’s Oven Pot 2.0

I opted for the Self-Standing Lid for my pot, and it’s seriously a game-changer. My counters are littered with lids from pots and pans that I don’t use during cooking. They can take up quite a bit of space, and are easy to knock over when balancing on the knob (which is how I usually set them down). This lid is easy to set down and doesn’t take up nearly as much space (considering it sits sideways), and because of that I’m less likely to knock it over. Needless to say, I really love this lid.

As for the pot itself, I went with the 5.5-inch option in the Deep Ocean Blue Gloss Finish. It’s smaller than I realized (it can hold up to four cups), but I really like it for making sides and pasta or savory oatmeal (my current lunch hyperfixation) for one or two people. Its size makes it so unique — especially considering all the Dutch ovens I have tend to be quite large. This one is easy to clean because it’s not bulky or too heavy. It also stores easily, and is often big enough to accommodate the food needed to feed just me and my fiancé.

Plus, the navy blue color is so beautiful! I often just keep it on my stovetop alongside my favorite pans that I use every day. It’s quickly becoming my go-to pot, so it’s well on its way to earning a permanent space on my stove.
