Even though not much has changed weather-wise, as soon as the calendar flipped to September I immediately started craving warm, comforting food. I’m ready to turn my oven back on and eat all of the filling, delicious things that I can. One food that is high on that list is a good chicken pot pie.
When my coworker Mara (Director of Groceries and Shopping) told me that Costco has its very own ready-made chicken pot pie, I knew that it was exactly what I needed to get into the fall spirit. I’m well-acquainted with Costco’s Kirkland Signature brand and its dessert pies (the Apple Berry Pie will only be on shelves for a few more weeks!), but I’ve never tried one of its savory pies.
I obviously rushed to the warehouse to try it, and ended up snagging the very last one. Spoiler: It was worth it.

What You Should Know About Costco’s Kirkland Signature Chicken Pot Pie
The pie isn’t new per se, but it’s definitely new to me (and seasonal). Like all things found at Costco, it’s gigantic — the five- to six-pound pies are priced at $3.99 per pound (mine came out to be $24.41) and is more than enough to feed a crowd. It features chicken (made with Costco’s Rotisserie Chicken), carrots, and peas, as well as herbs like thyme — all baked inside a beautiful lattice crust. It’s ready-made and just needs to be baked in the oven at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for an hour-and-a-half.
The pie is also a hot commodity. When I went to my local Costco to get one, I not only grabbed the last one, but also someone behind me sighed. (After some online digging, I learned that it has been wildly popular for years; one Reddit user went two to three times a week to figure out exactly when it returned to shelves.)

My Honest Review of Costco’s Kirkland Signature Chicken Pot Pie
The pie is stunning, with a striking lattice design that could be the main centerpiece for any dinner. More than its good looks and charm, the flavor is spot-on. I’ve found other pre-made pot pies skimp on the protein and crumble quickly under the heaps of gravy. Not so with Costco!

The chicken is plentiful and delicious, too — and the filling is covered in a savory gravy that just makes everything moist and really tasty. The vegetables are tender and cooked through without being mushy (despite such a long cook time), and the pie crust is buttery, and flaky, and ties everything together. I’ll absolutely be buying more Costco chicken pot pies this fall — all I need is a glass of apple cider.
