Uncrustables peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are more than just a nostalgic reminder of childhood lunch boxes; they’re the commuter-friendly, quick snack you didn’t know you needed. I recently rediscovered the magic of a Strawberry Uncrustable, and now they’re a constant presence in my freezer.
I’m someone who needs both carbs and protein to feel satiated from a snack, and Strawberry Uncrustables are my go-to for an on-the-go breakfast, a pre-workout snack, or a quick bite at the office. It might feel a little silly to be an adult enjoying an uncrustable on the street, but sometimes a dose of silliness (and a filling snack) is exactly what is needed to get through an after-work commute.

What’s So Great About Strawberry Uncrustables?
There’s so much to love about Strawberry Uncrustables, it’s hard to know where to begin. But the first thing that comes to mind is the convenience factor. They’re handheld and individually packaged, which makes them easy to eat while you’re out and about. Plus, since they’re frozen, you can throw one into your bag and it will be perfectly thawed by the time you’re feeling peckish an hour or so later.
Uncrustables’ plastic wrappers and small size help you stay mess-free, the exact kind of snack you need when riding the bus or weaving through crowds. Pro tip: If you leave one in the fridge of your dorm, office, or apartment, in the morning you’ll have a perfectly thawed and delicious snack in the afternoon, no meal prep required. In addition to being a super easy snack, with 6 grams of protein and 9 grams of sugar, Strawberry Uncrustables are a quick hit of protein without a sugar overload. It’s not an exact one-to-one ratio of protein compared with a protein bar, but it sure is more enjoyable to eat.
As far as flavor goes, I’m partial to strawberry because the preserves have a hint of tartness that gives a bit of complexity to the jam.
What’s the Best Way to Enjoy Strawberry Uncrustables?
While I have enjoyed Strawberry Uncrustable warmed in the toaster from time to time, the real way to eat them is cold. I think the best way to enjoy an Uncrustable is to thaw it just enough for the bread and peanut butter to be soft, but still cold, and not soggy.
I even eat them frozen if I’m pinched for time or want to crunch into the frozen peanut butter to the cold and soft jelly in the middle.
