Ball’s Wide Mouth Mason Jars are easily one of my favorite kitchen items. They can do so much: storing ground coffee and leftover pasta sauce, or serving as a drinking glass or vase. And they’ve only gotten more versatile in recent months, thanks to this wide mouth coffee grinder.
It attaches right to the top of a jar for freshly ground coffee whenever you need it. It’s a simple way to make my coffee even better every morning.

What You Should Know About the Mason Jar Lifestyle Wide Mouth Coffee Grinder Lid
The Wide Mouth Coffee Grinder Lid is made from stainless steel with a silicone lid that covers beans while grinding. It’s available in two sizes: wide mouth and regular mouth. The wide mouth grinder is a little over half an inch wider than the regular mouth one, and it’s $2 more at $24.99.

My Honest Review of the Mason Jar Lifestyle Wide Mouth Coffee Grinder Lid
When I first opened the box, I was delighted to see a little manual grinder cup comfortably seated on a screw-top lid. I had to do some light assembly, meaning I secured the handle onto the cup. It was so easy and only took a minute or two. After that, I was off to hand grind my coffee beans.
I’d only ever used an electric grinder before, so this was totally new to me. I loaded my coffee beans into the cup, topped it with the silicone lid, and started turning the handle. I ultimately decided to remove the lid so I could see how many beans still needed grinding.
I ground just enough for a shot or two of espresso. I timed it and was able to make enough for a single shot in 1 minute and 45 seconds. Not too shabby! (Grinding down an 8.8-ounce container worth of beans would take significantly longer.)
The grind this Mason jar accessory achieves is coarser than my favorite coffee grounds, which are so fine, they’re basically a powder. I felt the texture of the beans a little more, but the shot I was able to pull still tasted just as good as the grounds I typically use.
The best way to use this gadget, I’ve found, is to grind coffee beans fresh in the morning, literally right before I pull a shot. That resulted in a bold, strong iced latte, which I loved — especially since my beloved compact espresso machine doesn’t have a grinder built into it.
