Creamy Tomato and Cream Sauce (Rose Pasta Sauce)

An effortless and quick Italian pasta dish with a pink sauce that blends tomato with cream!

ingredients
  • 8 ounces pasta (gluten-free option available)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 28 ounce can whole peeled tomatoes, manually crushed
  • 1 teaspoon oregano (or Italian seasoning (link))
  • 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
  • 1/2 cup grated parmigiano reggiano (parmesan cheese)
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons basil, finely sliced
directions
  1. Begin cooking the pasta following the package instructions.
  2. In the meantime, heat the oil and melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add the onion and sauté until soft, about 5-8 minutes.
  3. Stir in the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until aromatic, about a minute.
  4. Incorporate the tomatoes and oregano, allow to simmer and cook for 5 minutes before blending the sauce in a mixer and returning it to the skillet.
  5. Pour in the cream and cheese, stir and allow the cheese to melt into the sauce.
  6. Draining the cooked pasta, add it to the sauce, and season with salt and pepper to preference.
  7. Fold in the basil and savor!
