
Pink Sauce Pasta (also known as Rose Pasta Sauce)

An effortless and quick Italian pasta dish with a pink sauce that blends tomato with cream!
ingredients
- 8 ounces pasta (gluten-free option available)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 28 ounce can whole peeled tomatoes, manually crushed
- 1 teaspoon oregano (or Italian seasoning (link))
- 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1/2 cup grated parmigiano reggiano (parmesan cheese)
- salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons basil, finely sliced
directions
- Begin cooking the pasta following the package instructions.
- In the meantime, heat the oil and melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, add the onion and sauté until soft, about 5-8 minutes.
- Stir in the garlic and red pepper flakes and cook until aromatic, about a minute.
- Incorporate the tomatoes and oregano, allow to simmer and cook for 5 minutes before blending the sauce in a mixer and returning it to the skillet.
- Pour in the cream and cheese, stir and allow the cheese to melt into the sauce.
- Draining the cooked pasta, add it to the sauce, and season with salt and pepper to preference.
- Fold in the basil and savor!
