Shawarma-Style Beef Hummus

Velvety hummus adorned with beef seasoned to shawarma perfection!

ingredients
    For the beef shawarma:
  • 1 pound ground beef (or lamb, or turkey)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons shawarma spice mix (link)
  • For the hummus:
  • 2 (15 ounce) cans (~3 cups) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice (~1 lemon)
  • salt to preference
directions
    For the beef shawarma:
  1. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef, breaking it up while it cooks for about 10 minutes, then drain any leftover grease.
  2. Incorporate the onion and sauté until softened, approximately 5 minutes,
  3. Stir in the garlic and shawarma spice, mix thoroughly, and cook for an additional minute.
  4. For the hummus:
  5. Blend all ingredients in a food processor, adding water as needed to reach your desired texture.

Option: Include 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce along with the seasoning.
