What Makes This Pie Unique: A Message From My Mom

It’s Sonja’s mother, Kristi. I’m delighted to share this cherished family recipe: our peach pie! I wanted to pass along something that has turned into a family custom, hoping it might become a tradition for others as well.
This recipe was created by my aunt, Ruth, who was an amazing cook and entertainer. Aunt Ruth once received an award for this fresh peach pie at her local fair. When I was a child, my mom would make this pie for my brother and me. It became my absolute favorite. I relished each bite, appreciating the mix of the thick, creamy custard with the savory crust.
I started making this pie myself after getting married, and my husband quickly became a fan. When we had kids, I made an effort to ensure we all consumed healthy meals, but I still found a way to include peach pie!
My daughters would plead to lick the spoon after I poured the custard over the peaches or to get scraps of pie dough while I prepared the crust. I cherished sharing this moment with my daughters as I knew it was a delightful tradition that brought them joy as well.
Thus, this peach pie became a beloved family dish. Even now, when my daughters return home for visits as adults, this fresh peach pie is always on the menu. It continues to bring joy to all who taste it! Everyone deserves a treat occasionally, and this one is worth every bite.
