M&M’s are one of my favorite candies. At the movie theater, I always buy a bag to toss in with my buttered popcorn. The candy shell stays crunchy even when the chocolate filling is gooey, which tastes incredible with salty popcorn.

While I’m partial to classic, I also adore peanut M&Ms (and the mini ones are so hard to put down!). But I’m maybe most excited about the new flavor of M&M’s that just launched: Banana Nut Bread. After trying some for myself and sharing them with coworkers at the office, here’s our official review.

M&M’s Launches New Banana Nut Bread Flavor

When I first saw the new M&M’s in person, I was struck by how similar they looked to peanut M&M’s, which made me even more excited. The banana-flavored candies upheld the high standards of peanut M&Ms in terms of crunch.

I’m always a little hesitant when it comes to banana-flavored candy or treats because of the artificial banana flavor. And while the flavoring is definitely present in these M&M’s, it’s not overwhelming or too artificial-tasting. The chocolate and peanut flavors definitely still take center stage, which I appreciated.

Mara Weinraub, our director of groceries and shopping, said that at first they just taste like regular peanut M&Ms — but the subtle banana flavor really kicks in at the end. Her hunch is that even if someone doesn’t really like banana-flavored candies, they’ll still like this. Sofia Rivera, an editor at Dorm Therapy, also thought that they really tasted just like banana bread. She also noted a subtle coffee and caramel flavor that I actually tasted as well.

I definitely could finish off a bag (or two) of these banana nut bread M&M’s, and suspect that any peanut M&M-loving person could too. This flavor is only available at Kroger stores for now, and it is a limited-time offering. So make sure to pick up a 9-ounce bag at your grocery store if you see it!
